Rolex 24 6 hour update
We are just over 6 hours here at Daytona during the Rolex 24. So far this has been a major race of attrition starting on lap 1 with a major incident in turn 1 with the LMP2 cars also the 25 BMW had a spin. The RS1 Porsche had a major crash at the hands of Eric Zitza in turn 1 hitting the pit wall. At the kink there was a major accident involving the 83 AF Corse LMP2 and 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche. Jack Aitken puts the 31 car on pole for the Rolex 24
Jack Aitken and the number 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac are going to be starting in position number for Saturdays running of the Rolex 24. Inter Europol Competition takes pole in LMP2 for the Rolex 24
Inter Europol’s Jermey Clarke takes the 43 car to pole position for Saturday’s Rolex 24. Clarke laid a lap time down of a 1:39.952 to start the season off from the front of the LMP2 class. Starting to his outside is Spike the Dragon driven by PJ Hyett off the back of his most successful season the team will be looking to add a Rolex to the collection. Alex Sims and Corvette secure the GTD Pro pole for the Rolex 24
Alexander Sims and the number 3 Corvette will start from first place in Saturday’s Rolex 24. Sims set the benchmark around halfway during the session of a 1:45.106. Heart of Racing secures the GTD class pole for the Rolex 24
The Heart of Racing Aston Martin entry driven by Zacharie Robichon set the benchmark time of a 1:45.113 to take over the WinWard Racing Mercedes driven by Phillip Ellis. Robby Foley driving the Turner Motorsports BMW entry takes the third place starting position in the GTD class. MMR takes the first pole for GS Class of 2026 season
A continuing theme of 2025 has moved over into 2026 Nate Cicero taking the number 13 Mcumbee Macaleer Racing Mustang to pole position. VGR takes Cupra 1-2 for the first qualifying of the 2026 season
Victor Gonzalez Racing’s 99 car driven by Franco Girolami led a Cupra 1-2 in qualifying today at Daytona. Girolami layed the benchmark lap time down in the session of a 1:56.852 in the dying moments of the TCR qualifying group. Celso Neto made a late charge but ultimately comes up short in qualifying. The KMW Motorsports Honda of rookie Rocco Pasquarella will make his race debut from the third position.

RLL adds Indy NXT driver Nikita Johnson for full slate of GTD Pro races
Team RLL announced the final spot for their lineup for their new McLaren entry that will be ran in the GTD Pro class. Carl Bennett joins Van Der Steur Racing for Rolex 24
The final driver of the four driver lineup for Van Der Steur Racing has been announced. Former Issota Fraschinni Hypercar driver Carl Bennett will make his Rolex 24 debut with the Aston Martin led team in the GTD class. This will not be Bennett’s first start in IMSA he has contested some Mustang Challenge events while this will be his debut in WeatherTech. Kaylen Frederick joins JDC for the endurance rounds
American open wheel star Kaylen Frederick will join JDC Motorsports for the Michelin Endurance Cup. The young American is taking over seat that was held by Bryce Aron. Jacob Abel joins ERA Motorsports for Endurance Cup campaign
ERA Motorsports announced today former Indycar driver Jacob Abel will join the team starting at Daytona for the Rolex 24. He will take on a full Michelin Endurance Cup Campaign in the number 18 LMP2. Abel stated he tried to make another return to Indycar for 2026 and also for a GTD Pro seat. Abel has been competing in the Asian Le Mans Series with Vector Sport in the LMP2 class.
