Lamborghini locks out the front row for Nurburgring 24 Hours

Luca Engstler leads a Lamborghini 1-2 front row for the Red Bull Team ABT for tomorrow’s running of the Nurburgring 24 Hours. Defending 24 Hours of Spa winner aboard his number 84 Lamborghini Huracan layed down a flying 8:11.123 lap time to edge out teammate Marco Mapelli by 0.345 seconds. This is the first time the Italian manufacturer has secured pole at the Nurburgring and looks to take its first victory on the Nordschleife. The sister car 130 starts alongside the 84 with previous winners Nicky Catsburg and Nick Yelloly. Christopher Haase aboard the number 16 Audi qualified third fastest ahead number 3 Verstappen Racing Mercedes. Thomas Neubauer completed the top 5 in the lone Ferrari 296 in the field. Tomorrow teams will get one final opportunity to fine tune the cars in a morning warmup. Then all eyes look toward the big prize an opportunity to win the famous 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
