Starting from second place Johnson made a huge dive into the first turn on Max Taylor and Johnson never looked back leading every lap in a race mired by multiple crashes. 2025 IMSA VP Sports Car champion Valentino Catalano announces today at return to IMSA competition with Gebhardt Motorsports. Valentino joins Oscar Tunjo in the red number 1 to contest the four race endurance cup for VP starting at Sebring next week. Corey Heim will take part in the Daytona 500 for the first time on Sunday. He alongside Justin Allgaier qualified there way into the race. Heim qualified in 5th place tonight and will take part in dual number 1. This is the first of his 12 scheduled starts for the 2026 season.

Junior Motorsports will once again make it into the Great American Race with Justin Allgaier and the number 40 Traveler Whisky Chevy. Allgaier was one of two drivers to lock in tonight Allgaier qualified in 14th place he will take part in dual 1 tomorrow night.

Kyle Busch is going to be leading the field to green on Sunday for the 68th running of the Daytona 500. Kyle Busch led both sessions of qualifying tonight and set a time of a 49.006. Chase Briscoe last year’s pole sitter will start to his outside on Sunday. For tomorrow Duel 1 which Busch will be the pole sitter will determine the inside line. Briscoe who will lead the field to green in dual two will set the outside row for the Daytona 500.

Sebastian Bourdais will make his debut in the Mazda MX5 Cup Series at the second round on the streets of Saint Petersburg a track Bourdais has had a lot of success on. This time he will be competing as a guest in the MX5 Cup Series for McCumbee Macaleer Racing in the 38 car. Bourdais is set to test the car on the 17th of February at Carolina Motorsports Park in order to get acclimated with the car ahead of his debut at St Pete.

Practice session 1 is done at Daytona and the Blue Ovals are looking fast. Not a lot of drafting took place in today’s only practice session it was mostly single car runs as teams prepare for qualifying tonight. Honda sweeps every session of testing over the two days at Sebring. Kyle Kirkwood lead today’s final afternoon session of action today at Sebring.
