Alex Palou starts 2026 in victorious fashion

A familiar sight returns to the top of the podium defending champion Alex Palou goes back to back with victories at the Grand Prix of St Pete. Palou was able to play the tire strategy perfectly. While Scott McLaughlin started from pole and looked in control in the early stages of the race but once Palou swapped to the alternative tires he made the overcut work to his advantage. Kyle Kirkwood seemed to be the only person to stay on par with Palou but Palou soon extended his gap and pulled away. And cruised to his twentieth career victory.

St Pete podium:

  1. Alex Palou

  2. Scott McLaughlin

  3. Christian Lundgaard
