With the cancellation of both the Bahrain and Saudia Arabian Grand Prixs this opens up in the calendar to allow Max Verstappen to enter two more NLS races on April 18th and 19th as he prepares for his maiden 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. The first race of the double hitter will be pivotal for Verstappen as it will allow him to make his first laps around the Nordschleife under the cover of darkness. Lucas Auer joins Verstappen making his first NLS starts of the year. The Austrian is Mercedes most recent NLS winner at the last NLS race in 2025. While Verstappen alongside Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella won NLS2 last month but there win was disqualified due to exceeding the tire allowance.
