Confirmed today the Acura GTP program will come to a hault at the conclusion of the 2026 season. This is due to a significant financial losses from parent company Honda in relation to sale of EV vehicles. At the moment no word has been made regarding the possibility of seeing future ARX-06’s run by customers either next year or in the future. Additionally no reason was given for the haulting of it’s sports car program. With today’s confirmation this now puts drivers Renger Van Der Zande, Nick Yelloly as well as Acura contracted drivers Colin Braun, Tom Blomqvist as free agents heading into 2027. Acura is coming off victory in Long Beach with the 93 car driven by Yelloly and Vand Der Zande. With Acura not returning this leaves four factory backed GTP efforts for 2027 in Aston Martin, Cadillac, Porsche, and BMW. It is understood that Genesis which initially announced plans to run in the series next year has ruled out a full season program in 2027, but still could debut towards the end of the season.
