The number 30 LMP3 of Toney Driver Development driven by Ari Balogh and Garrettt Grist overcome a first lap incident to take a perfect pit strategy to take victory at VIR. Balogh slid off track at turn 3 on the opening lap due to contact with the 87 of Farhan Siddiqi. The first lap incident sent the 30 team to the back of the field but shortly the races first of 3 full course yellows came out for debris brought the 30 car back into the fight. Once Balogh met minimum drive time the car was handed over to Garrett Grist for the remainder of the race. The deciding point of the race came with 46 minutes remaining. Grist pitted for his second stop before the final fulll course yellows of Wyatt Brickacek’s car who was in the barriers at Oak Tree alongside Patrick Liddy. He rejoined the race 1 lap down to the first and second place Gebhardt cars. Both Tunjo and Soufi still had to make their final stops after the full course yellows had ended. Grist managed to unlap himself with lap times being in the 1:44 range. Grist took the lead with 16 minutes remaining despite pretty heavy damage to the rear of the car to win by over 40 seconds to second place Danny Soufi.
