The RS1 duo of Luca Mars and Spencer Pumpelly leave Road America victorious in a rain soaked race 2 of the GT4 America weekend. The duo together is closing in on the silver class championship with their 7th consecutive victory in a wet race that saw a 33 minute long safety car period for a heavy crash and barrier repairs at Canada corner. Pumpelly drove the no.028 Porsche Cayman a borrowed chassis from the NolaSport team following Pumpelly’s incident on Thursday to the victory over the no.7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Yves Baltas. The race ended under the full course yellow for an incident by the Pro-Am points leading no. 94 Random Vandals BMW of Sam Craven who made sizable contact with the wall. Pro-Am class honors went to Blackdog Racing Tony Gaples and Michael Cooper who extend there win streak and also taking third overall on the road. The race’s first full course yellow came out at the 15 minute mark when Marc Miller and Alex Garcia had a massive crash at Canada Corner. Garcia’s BMW nearly overturned while Werner Neugebauer’s no.812 Rafa Racing Toyota Supra nosed into the barriers several moments after the major incident. Just about all the cars came in for the mandatory driver changes with 33 minutes to go, which saw Spencer Pumpelly jump Tony Gaples in the pit lane. The race restarted with 12 minutes to go but then Sam Craven’s shunt in the final five minutes ended the race prematurely.
