Honda factory driver Kakunoshin Ohta is slated to make his debut at the prestigious 24 hours of Le Mans race, with Seven X Seven Racing and Proton Competition coming together to make it happen. The Japanese star will be joining the previously confirmed duo of German driver Jonas Reid and British driver Harry King. This event marks Ohta’s first appearance at Le Mans, following a short career following up to this announcement. The appearance marks a major step in his life and Honda alike. While Ohta has been apart of the MSR Acura GTP program, he has also been attending select races aboard the Oreca 07 LMP2, with Era Motorsports at tracks such as Sebring and Road America. As of now, Ohta has one final race scheduled amongst the Acura GTP, at the 6 Hours of the Glenn before the program is suspended at seasons end. Ohta’s presence at Le Mans will mean he will have to sacrifice his seat at the 24 Hours of Fuji, which Ohta was due to ride in the Craft Bamboo Racing’s Mercedes AMG GT3 and compete, as the race clashes with the Le Mans test day.
